The World

Amostra, a new island born from sudden and dramatic movements in the earth. The island boasts a staggering wealth of naturally occurring crystals, which draws explorers from far and wide to gather their bounty, seeing new arrivals every day. However, the eidolons, entities dedicated to defending the natural world and the crystals themselves stand in the explorers’ way, making their gathering efforts a risky and dangerous endeavour. Undeterred, one more young explorer arrives on the island to seek their fortune…

The Crystals

The crystals are the source of the planet’s energy, a mystical ore that occurs when that energy flows to the surface. All living things on the planet must thank the beneficence of the crystals for granting them souls and driving their evolution. Humanity has taken this life energy and used it to drive the advancement of their civilisation.

Migrant Moogle Merchant

This moogle’s shop sometimes appears randomly in Libertas after you return from a quest. The wares on offer also change depending on your quest status. Unlike regular shops, the moogle also sometimes caries rare items, including some so valuable that you can only buy one of them at a time!

How many different jobs are there?
What are the different roles in a party?
In this game each job has its own assigned role to play in your adventuring party. These roles are “attack”, “defence”, “healing” and “support” (for example, the Monk job fulfils an attacking role). These different roles allow you to decide the way that you want to participate in battles. Finding powerful combinations of different roles is one of the most satisfying parts of the multiplayer game.
Can I change how my characters look?
You can customise your character when starting a new game and then are free to customise them again and again whenever you like. You can even change the colour of your character!
What is Trance?
Trance is a system that allows your characters to use special attacks that temporarily enhance their abilities by calling upon the aid of eidolons or classic FINAL FANTASY characters. These awesome abilities are accessed by equipping the appropriate magicite when preparing for your next adventure and then triggered after filling up a special gauge during battle. Clever use of the Trance system is the key to completing quests.
Are action RPGs difficult to play?
In FINAL FANTASY Explorers, all abilities are activated with only a single button press. The gameplay is slanted more towards the RPG side than the action side and can be enjoyed fully without having to learn a complicated control scheme. Selecting the right abilities and equipment to use is more important that reflexes or pure action game skill.
Are there things to do outside of the main adventure?
There are indeed! FINAL FANTASY Explorers contains a wealth of optional gameplay, including battles with fearsome opponents, rare equipment to seek out and numerous different kinds of item to collect.
Can I take NPC characters adventuring with me in single player mode?
In single player mode the only allies you can include in your party are monsters that you have recruited.
Do characters, jobs and equipment level up?
These elements do not level up in the traditional manner seen in most RPGs but there is a ranking system of a different sort.
Can I change the colour of my equipment?
You cannot change the colour of individual pieces of equipment but there are over 100 different sets available. Each set has its own unique look, allowing you to create a huge variety of combinations with different head, body and leg pieces.
Tell me about character equipment.
When they start their adventure, explorers have not yet learned the ability to change jobs and are “Freelancers” with no particular specialisations.

By defeating monsters and Eidolons they can collect crafting materials and make new equipment for themselves. The rarer the materials collected, the better the equipment that can be made from them, making characters more and more powerful.
Show me some of the equipment I can get!
FINAL FANTASY Explorers features a bountiful line-up of different equipment to collect and use.

From the jobs that have been revealed so far we can see that weapons available include swords, staffs, rods and knuckles, but the FINAL FANTASY series has seen a huge variety of different weapon types, including axes, spears and bells among many more, so it is very likely that many of those will make a return in Explorers!

In Explorers, different weapons are available to different jobs, so watch out for them all. You can buy weapons in shops but can also collect materials and forge them yourself as well. If you try hard enough you may even be able to create legendary items of great power.
Tell me about the different multiplayer modes.
"Local Co-op:

Local play allows you to connect directly with other 3DS consoles and does not require an internet access point. This mode allows you to immediately enjoy exciting multiplayer action with just a console and a copy of the game for each player, but all players have to be within close proximity to one another as the wireless communication is limited to a short distance.

Online Co-op:

This mode allows players to connect with and play against other players who are far away, by connecting their Nintendo 3DS console to the internet via a Wi-Fi hotspot. FINAL FANTASY Explorers also has a “quick chat” feature which allows players to communicate with each other over long distances using simple set phrases.
What kind of game is FINAL FANTASY Explorers?
Explorers is the latest game in the FINAL FANTASY series and marks the start of a new spinoff series with a more action oriented gameplay style. The game sees parties of players fight together strategically to overcome mighty Eidolons.
Can I still play without lots of friends?
The game can still be enjoyed fully when playing alone. Full details have yet to be revealed but there is even a system where solo players can recruit monsters to their party and field them as allies in battle.
Tell me more about creating a party.
The maximum size for a party is four members but you are free in how you make up that number. You can bring along three friends or just take a single friend and fill the last two slots with allied monsters. You can even use a Wi-Fi to connect to the internet and team up with comrades in far-flung places!
What are “Jobs” in the FINAL FANTASY series?
Jobs are specialised occupations that a character takes on. For example, the ironclad knight forms an immoveable bulwark to protect the party with his high defence while the Monk is a martial arts expert who overwhelms the foe with his superior attacking power and the White Mage heals his allies’ wounds with beneficent conjurations. Many of these occupations with their own unique s skills and abilities have featured in the FINAL FANTASY series.
Can I change jobs again after picking one?
You are free to change your job as part of your preparations for departing on a quest. When playing in a party the selection of jobs for each member is a vital concern, so pick the best one for you, deciding if you want to go all-out on healing or mainly be an attacking type.
How many different jobs are there?
FINAL FANTASY Explorers features many jobs to pick from so watch out for future updates on the different ones available.
